Located between the valleys of Orcia and Chiana, Montepulciano was built by the Etruscan king Porsenna in 500 BC The city has preserved its historic center as it was centuries ago, with many religious and civil buildings such as the church of the Madonna di San Biagio, the Palazzo Pubblico, Palazzo Tarugi and the house of the poet Poliziano. This area is rich in oak, holm oak and chestnut woods, cultivated tuff plateaus and vineyards. Montepulciano is famous all over the world for its natural and architectural beauty, but also for the wine that bears the name of the city. The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of the classic Italian red wines and has undoubtedly helped Tuscany to retain its privileged place on the wine map of the world. According to the DOCG rules, to be labeled as Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, a wine must come from the vineyards on the hills surrounding Montepulciano, an area with slopes reaching a height of 820-1968 feet. The main grape here is Sangiovese (known locally as Prugnolo Gentile), the same variety used to produce another great Tuscan red wine: Brunello di Montalcino.

Thanks to Virginie's respect for the ecosystem, its staff and the final consumer, the company has begun to produce organic wines that are truly faithful to their origins, but always singular and unique. To date, the estate has reached a size of 175 hectares of vineyards, including a state-of-the-art winery in the Montepulciano appellation.
