BDX Itinerary Explanation - 4Nights 5Days

Bordeaux –Medoc – Arcachon – St’Emilion & Pomerol

Day 1 – Bordeaux

After a relaxed breakfast buffet you will meet your guide at your beautiful hotel. The day will be dedicated to discover the wonderful and dynamic UNESCO city of Bordeaux, our little Paris in the South, with lots of sun, picturesque squares and more stories about wine! Discover the historic city center during a walking tour with its main monuments: Monument aux Girondins, Place des Quinconces, Eglise Notre-Dame, Grand-Théâtre, the Saint Pierre district, the Place du Parliament and the Place de la Bourse. After getting to know the city we head for a Lunch (not included). Next we will the visit of “La Cite du Vin” (City of Wine Museum), one of its own kind in an astonishing architecture style. Today we will also travel à la francaise – with the local tram to reach the museum. After our
interactive wine-learning experience, let’s finish with a glass of Wine on the Museum’s rooftop with a 360 degree panoramic view of Bordeaux. Afterwards we make our way back to the center, strolling along the river Garonne and a short walking tour in the Old Merchants District “Chartrons”, where once lived the rich and famous wine merchants. It is also a wonderful place to do some French Shopping followed by dinner (not included).

Day 2 – Medoc

Welcome to the world capital of Wine: Bordeaux! Meet your Tour Manager and Wine Expert right at the train station and let’s depart to visit the worlds most renowned wine region “Médoc”. This is where the grape variety "Cabernet Sauvignon" is at home, it needs sun to mature and time to reveal itself. We will pass through towns like Margaux, Saint-Estèphe, Saint-Julien, Pauillac... which offer some of the most reputed wines in the world, beautiful châteaux and mystical vineyard sceneries. At first we will visit a well-known Château with the denomination of “Grand Cru Classé 1855 ”. Don’t worry, you will fast understand the concept of the Bordeaux wine classification of 1855 that divides wine producers into 5 quality categories. Afterwards we will head to a French restaurant to have a delicious lunch (not included). A second visit and tasting at a Château awaits us in the north of Haut- Médoc. We return to Bordeaux for your Check In in the Hotel and free time for shopping and dinner (not included).

Day 3 – Arcachon

After a delicious buffet breakfast, it's time to get out of Bordeaux and take a short ride to reach the Atlantic Ocean! You will departure towards the seaside bay of Arcachon in your private minibus in the company of your guide. Discover the picturesque and colourful village on a walking tour in Arcachon, followed by a delicious lunch (not included) by the sea. Afterwards we embark to climb up the highest of all sand dunes in Europe Dune du Pilat, where you will explore the unparalleled beauties of this wild and natural place with a pine forest on one side and the wide Atlantic Ocean on the other one. Afterwards we return to Bordeaux Center where you have free time for shopping and dinner (not included).

Day 4 – St Émilion & Pomerol

After your buffet breakfast, check out and meet your guide at your hotel and we start our last day in one of the most lively and charming wine village of the region: Saint-Émilion. The right bank of Bordeaux, is home to the king cépage: Merlot. The wines of this region are elegant, round, velvety and with a smoked side of truffles, powerful and long-lasting. The medieval town of St Emilion will amaze you on our walking tour with its UNESCO sites like the biggest monolithi church in France, mysterious catacombs, small medieval streets and beautiful houses. After lunch in the village (not included) we have our first visit and wine tasting. For our second visit we choose a place right next to St Émilion. Even though without any grand cru classification, this region has exceptional terroir and
wines. Pomerol is the home for some of the most expensive wines in the world: Pétrus, Château Lafleur and Le Pin. Afterwards we return to Bordeaux train station where our amazing wine experience ends. Au revoir et à bientôt.
